Histological Changes in the Pregnant, Lactating and Involuting Mammary Gland of the Guinea Pig

چکیده
The histological changes of mammary glands ofguinea pigs during mid and late pregnancy, 1 day after parturition, peak lactation and 2, 3, 4, 8 and 12 days after weaning were studied. Rapid growth of the glandular tzssue occurred towards late pregnancy and was completed by peak lactation. Plasma cells occurred in large numbers in the interalveolar connective tzssue during the period between mid-pregnancy and lactation. Mammary involution was an autolytic process aided by the action of macrophages accompanied by shrunken alveoli and increased interalveolar connective tzssue. Thzs feature was evident at 3 days after weaning which began from the perzphery of the glands. The number of macrophages were abundant in the connective tzssue and alveolar and ductal lumina. By day 8, the alveoli were no longer recognisable and at 12 days after weaning only remnants ofductules and alveoli were present.

Background: Antipsychotic drugs are medications used to treat schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. Antipsychotic drugs can cause unwanted side effects. Hyperprolactinemia is an important but neglected adverse effect. The aim of the this study was to consider the effects of Chlropromazine -induced hyperprolactinaemia on mammary glands of female rats . Materials and Methods: In this study...
متن کاملLoss of Panx1 Impairs Mammary Gland Development at Lactation: Implications for Breast Tumorigenesis
Pannexin1 (Panx1) subunits oligomerize to form large-pore channels between the intracellular and extracellular milieu that have been shown to regulate proliferation, differentiation and cell death mechanisms. These key cellular responses are ultimately necessary for normal tissue development and function but the role of Panx1 in development, differentiation and function in many tissues remains ...
متن کاملHormonal regulation of radioiodide uptake activity and Na+/I- symporter expression in mammary glands.
The observation that radioiodide uptake (RAIU) activity, mediated by the Na+/I- symporter (NIS), is significantly increased in lactating breast suggests that RAIU and NIS expression in mammary gland are modulated by hormones involved in active lactation. We showed that both the NIS expression level and RAIU in rat mammary gland are maximal during active lactation compared to those in the mammar...
متن کاملThe effects of tannin-rich diet on protein composition of parotid and submandibular glands of Guinea Pig
Tannins are plant-derived polyphenolic compounds that are widely found in foods, particularly in fruits and beverages. These materials are water-soluble and able to precipitate proteins from aqueous solutions. It had been shown that feeding some animals such as rat and mouse with tannins mimicks the effects of isoproterenol on salivary glands. Tannins stimulate β-receptors by some indirect me...
